New Gear, Sigma 12-24mm!
by Ben
Yes, I’m retracing my routes with this one was well… I originally bought the siggy 12-24mm when I had my 10D knowing a 1Dii was in my near future… It’s the go to wide prime for the 1 series IMHO because that body needs full frame lenses and the 17-40 and 16-35 lose enough of […]

Lens Test Pattern…
by Ben
yeah, needing to UL this obviously means I had to use it. My BRAND NEW sigma is/was front focusing slightly (by 1cm). So I went through the process of adjusting it in camera and it’s great now! I’m at +10 which might be a tad too much actually. When it was at 0, the back […]

New Gear; Tenba Insert/DIY backpack!
by Ben
Well I’ve been working on another DIY bag project lately. I’ve used nothing but shoulder bags for a long time now, but with the lenses I’ve been carrying around they aren’t ideal all the time. So I’ve been wanting a backpack/sling bag to help distribute the load, but keep my gear within a quick unzip […]

New Gear; Sigma 50mm 1.4!
by Ben
Well I got a bit crazy this past week and sold off my 50mm 1.4 and the 100mm macro I’d traded for my 20mm 1.8. My canon 50mm 1.4 was a good lens, it’s just that I’ve heard great things about the sigma so I figured I’d change things up a bit. Basically the sigma […]

Point Judith II
by Ben
Well this was my first sunrise since the 4 in a row on vacation. It was great to get out there again. The sunrise was OK, the sun itself was pretty rad, but then as soon as it was light enough the surfers started piling into the water. That made it a bit more interesting […]

EAJ 71 week update!
by Ben
Well we had a lovely and busy weekend this weekend! Friday night was the annual Portuguese feast over at the Portsmouth Portuguese American Club. It’s right up the street from Debbie and Andy’s house so every year we go over and walk up for some great food, great music, and a fun time. This year […]

Midweek update!
by Ben
Yeah, rare, I know… I realized tonight (while showing off Elias pics to the ladies at the blood center) that I didn’t process or post these pics of Elias at the beach at the end of vacation. There’s also 3 images in there from last nights sunset that I caught after sailing. There’s also a […]

Bag: Lowe Pro Top Load Zoom!
by Ben
I can’t believe I don’t have a post on this yet? Anyway, this is the holster bag I ski with. It’s not perfect, but it’s really good. The strap system sucks, but not bad enough I’ve replaced it yet (which would be pretty easy). It works as needed.

Newport Regatta?
by Ben
Well I hope everyone else’s weekend went as well as mine. I got a call last week while on vacation from Justin Scott. He’s the Viper 640 class president. I’d sailed with him twice before when we were picking which 20′ sportboat was right for us, and he was considering sailing in the Newport Regatta, […]

4th of July 2009!
by Ben
OR, vacation’s almost over? Yeah, it’s Sunday and work starts tomorrow. Vacation FLEW by waaaaaaay too fast this summer. The weather was pretty terrible most of the week (basically until Friday) so we didn’t get to do some of the fun things we’d planned. I did get out and shoot 4 sunrises on Wednesday, Thursday, […]

Newton Road IV:
by Ben
Made it 4 for 4 sunrises Saturday morning. I ended up meeting up with Dave from Flickr and he wanted to shoot Newton for his first time since high school. So off we went. It’s my fourth time down there recently but I don’t mind as there’s always plenty of new shots to try out […]

Narragansett Beach:
by Ben
Well it’s now 3 in a row for “sunrises”, but unfortunately it’s 2 in a row for not actually ever seeing the sun. I decided to try Narragansett beach on for size and it was fun. It meant I got to walk the length of the beach in order to get to where I wanted […]
