Newport Regatta?

Well I hope everyone else’s weekend went as well as mine.  I got a call last week while on vacation from Justin Scott.  He’s the Viper 640 class president.  I’d sailed with him twice before when we were picking which 20′ sportboat was right for us, and he was considering sailing in the Newport Regatta, but needed crew.  He knew I was a local and though I’d be good enough for the job so it was on.  He scrambled until late in the week to find a third and managed to find Baker Potts as our third.  Well, we did pretty well if I must say so myself.  We ended up winning the viper class (first out of 13 boats sailing) and had a blast.  I’m sore from sailing all weekend. but that sore that I know better than to complain because it was sooooo much fun!!!   Nikki and Elias actually came down to the beach at Sail Newport Saturday and spent the day there and also hanging out with Debbie and Andy on whisper.  It made for the perfect day when as soon as we’d finished hoisting our boat and pushing it up the ramp, there they were with Elias waving at me.  I ran over and gave them both a big hug, then introduced Elias to some friends and tossed him in/on the boat!

The landscape you see this week are from nights riding my bike.  I’ve started riding after we tuck Elias in (so 8~9pm) which is around sunset these days so I bring the camera along.  I figure the weight makes for better exercise anyway right?  Anyway, I didn’t get a sunrise in this weekend, not because of the sailing, we, not really, but because I slept through the alarm(s).  Bummer.

In case you’re wondering why there are two cars shots and a shot of a beer bottle/cap in here, here’s the skinny; the car is a 370z that happened to be stuck in traffic with me Friday night.  It’s MUCH better looking in person than what I’d seen in the car rags, so I put the window down, took camera out, and snapped some shots.  The beer is “birthday beer” from one of the members of my photo forum.  Todd had a daughter back on June 3rd and also micro brews his own beer.  So instead of cigars he did beers and was nice enough to send me two.  I figured they’d be the perfect cap to a perfect weekend.
