Well I picked a new lens today. I’ve had a canon 28mm f/1.8 for a while now and I’ve been unhappy with it’s AF. I picked up the canon 24mm f/1.4 L to replace it. It’s a wonderful lens, but it’s much bigger and heavier. The focus is lightning quick and the IQ is amazing, so it’s definitely a keeper. Using a lens with a 1.4 maximum aperture is interesting though. The DOF is so narrow it’s amazing to see. Even at a relatively wide 24mm focal length, you still can get really shallow DOF. This is a good thing and a bad thing, I just need to make sure everything I need in focus is.
