Wachusett!!!

Well, Elias is quickly getting hooked…  I took him skiing the first time this season the week before his third birthday (you can see that here).   We then went to Wachusett the weekend after his Bday, and I’d added 2 tricks/tools to the bag…  I picked up some edgie wedgies (those things that connect the tips of his skis) and a backpack with straps deal that he wears so I can ski behind him but keep in in control.  Combined these were awesome as his tips couldn’t cross and he was much more comfortable THINKING I was controlling him.  As you can see in the video I was only doing what I HAD to to control him, but about half the time he was on his own.  He eventually talked me into taking him “all the way to the top” and by the end of the day he was doing the bunny hill alone w/o the straps following me down (getting video of course! ;)).

The next weekend we did a family ski trip for the first time thank’s to Katie and some free promotional tickets.  We all skied free and had a blast.  I took Isabella in her backpack (and quickly got kicked out for liability reasons) but Nikki and I both got to ski with Elias a bit, and Bella LOVED skiing in the backpack.  Next season we’ll be looking at some season passes to either Yawgoo or Wachusett so we can get out and ski weekly if possible.  It was a ton of fun for Elias, but it was also VERY fun for me to be able to ski with him.

  1. I showed the video of Elias skiing to Nanoo and she had to watch it 3x because she loved it so much! You are “long lining” Elias, just as my trainer is doing with my new horse Davio! I think it’s great that he’s not doing all that traversing…point them downhill and get on with it. He was hilarious, waving his arms in an attempt to go faster. Good idea!
