IJJ Update 23

Another week in the books and I still feel like I’m trying to catch up!  Since the hurricane it’s been constant catchup with processing as I was shooting the entire time we were w/o power, but couldn’t process any of it.  I’ve still got one more project to process and another two to shoot (then process).  Anyway, beyond behind behind, we’ve been busy having some fun the last few weekends as well.

Labor Day weekend we went to ride on Thomas the train with Elias and Gigi and Pop Pop.  Elias had a blast with that, then we went out to BAP afterwards which was a treat.  Sunday, Dad Leo and I raced sluff around Jamestown in CYC’s annual race and we WON OUR CLASS!  And we of course couldn’t make that easy on ourselves, Dad missed the hiking straps on a tack and fell in (we had him back in the boat in <25 seconds).  That put as far enough back -vs- the other boats we fouled on and had to do a 360º…  So in a minute or so, we made two big mistakes going from first to fourth.  We then had to reel in the 3 boats that got past on the awesome DW leg, check the videos at the bottom.  After that I went off to a party for Myra, Lora and Chris’s daughter for her first B-day.  Then Monday I got out with Leo and Bumpa on IV for a great ride and a bit of fishing.

This past weekend we had a yard sale at out house.  It was a nice way to make ~$150 while cleaning out the closet and eve which we had to do anyway.  Sunday we went out on IV again with Gigi and Pop Pop for a ride around Jamestown, then over to their mooring to check on their boat and then through Newport for the tour which was a blast.  Of course on top of all that, the football season officially kicked off on Thursday with the Packer beating New Orleans.  I got to watch that with my Dad which was great.  Then last night the Pats beat the Dolphins in another great game.

Oh, and the ice cream cake? Elias turned 3.5, which isn’t something we’d normally celebrate, but he was grocery shopping with Nikki in the ice cream isle to replace what we lost in Irene, so that came home… And the last few frames are of Isabella trying her first real food. She’s been VERY grabby when we’ve been eating for a few weeks now, but just recently she’s now almost crying as she’s doing it, we think she KNOWS it’s food and wants to try it!!!

Here we are at the end of the run, north of Jamestown closing in on hope and despair (sorry about the fog):

And here’s Dad missing the straps and falling in:
