Happy Birthday Isabella Jane Jacobsen!!!

Well, we have ANOTHER new addition in the house this week!  Sorry about not posting anything at the end of last weekend but I was pretty worn out with my killer bday party, then Monday night came and instead of getting time to post to the site NIKKI WENT INTO LABOR (finally?!) !!!!!

So Nikki and I were doing the dishes at the house, and all of a sudden I see her grab the counter at the sink and grab it super tight and bend over a bit…  I ask if she’s alright and she’s clearly having a painful contraction…  So we start timing them and I race Elias through the tub and get him ready for bed.  We call her parents to come but before they could arrive her contractions were ~3 minutes appart so we knew we better get a move on.  We piled everyone into the car and drove off to the hospital.  We arrived around 9:30pm and Nikki went in while I parked the car (she couldn’t walk from the parking lot so I walked her in the ambulance entrance).  She then gets admitted with Elias in tow, I come in and they’re in a triage room and her water breaks within 15 minutes of getting there… About that time Nikki’s parents arrived, Elias said his goodbyes and went home with Pop Pop.  I could tell in Nikkis face she knew things were moving along quickly…  So we get moved up to the delivery floor about an hour later and things really started to progress quickly…  Nikki’s contractions were getting painful, but she didn’t want to take any drugs…  There was a brief few minutes there where she was talking about the the epidural, but before anyone could even make a decision you could tell the Drs and Nurses knew something was up because they started getting everything ready….  Well, five pushes later, out popped Isabella Jane Jacobsen at 11:19pm, less than two hours after we got to the hospital!  All w/o ANY drugs what so ever (Nikki is a TROOPER!!!!).  Isabella arrived with a 8 then 9 Apgar scores which was a huge relief after how Elias entered the world (lets just say not as gracefully) and we got to spend the entire night with her both in the delivery room then upstairs afterward…  She weighed in at 8lb 12oz and 21.5″ long (bigger than Elias).

After than we spent the next 2 days in the hospital with Elias staying with GiGi and Pop Pop (Nikki’s parents for those who don’t know the grandparents names).  Today we were released and we’re all now home together.  I have the rest of the week off and Elias will be going to daycare on his normal schedule which means we should have 2 peaceful days then next 2 days then a nice long weekend.  So far Isabella has been very relaxed and we’re really enjoying the whole experience this time around.  I think we’re just both much less stressed this time around, but it could be because we haven’t been home alone with her for more than 12 hours yet, so we’ll see how the next few days go!

Thanks everyone for all the kind words on facebook BTW!  It was great being able to post pictures using our phones and keep up with everyone w/o having to make a million phone calls.

  1. Great update, I never thought I’d end up being a sucker for baby stuff.
Congrats to Isabella too – while we were celebrating Noah’s 1 year birthday she was being born.

    • Thanks Jay! Yeah, no kidding on the liking other people’s kid updates now huh? It’s been a ton of fun keeping up with your adventures as well, even if you don’t update quite as often…. 😉 And how cool is it the kids are exactly a year appart? Thanks for the IE update, I’ve kinda stopped fixing things for IE. The further I get into that the more problems I see in other versions of IE and it just becomes a mountain that’s not worth climbing. Unfortunate but it is what it is.

      Thanks again!
      Ben

  2. Also, btw on IE7 the top search bar doesn’t line up well. More of an issue for me using IE7 than something I’d worry about, just thought you may want to know.

  3. I can’t even express what I’m feeling right now! I guess pure Joy! She is beautiful and enjoy every moment with Isabella and Elias.

    • Thanks Cindy!
We really are enjoying everything this time around. Nikki and I have both said how much more relaxed everything is.
