Tuckerman’s 1.28.2012

Dave and I tried to make it to Tuckerman’s again this past weekend.   The weather was terrible (100+ MPH winds at the summit) and the avalanche conditions were even worse thanks to the rain that came Friday then froze on the surface.  We still hiked up a bit (I skinned, he hiked) before officially giving up, but it wasn’t a pretty sight.  On the way home we decided to make lemonade out of the lemons we were dealt and shot Rocky Gorge and Sabbaday falls on the way home.  I’d been to Rocky Gorge before, but never with snow and I’d never gone off the trail.  Sabbaday is a new falls for me and one I’ll definitely be going back to as you’re just seeing the pool below it in the last shot, the falls have 3 stages that are incredible, but covered with ice this time of the year.
