I am a father, husband, skier, sailor and photographer, just about in that order! I’ve been interested in photography ever since I was a little kid. My interest developed in high school when I took my first course. From there I went on to get a degree in photography just to get access to the darkroom! I’ve been shooting what I love doing the entire time. I’m constantly outside making landscape and travel photography my primary subjects. I love getting out in the mornings before the sun is up, finding an amazing location and watching Mother Nature put on her best show. Exploring new places and sharing them is why I do this. For me landscape photography is about capturing the right light in the right location.
I love teaching people about photography. Feel free to ask me any questions you’d like. I try not to be too obsessive about gear, but it’s hard not to talk about it when you’re using it as often as I am. I review gear of products I own myself. All of the images you see on this site are available for purchase.

Bald Eagle
Took the kids for a “forced field trip” yesterday. We found this guy/gal hanging out on top of a tree. It was one of two eagles we found.

Long Lenses
Long lenses have always been something I’ve used in my photography. When I first got a film body in the 90s I had a 70-300mm variant. I’ve since gone through four camera systems (canon, nikon, canon again, fuji and now sony). On each system I’ve had a long lens of some sort. They basically fall…

Sunday Drive
Photoshop? Maybe… The honest truth is I did combine 2 images. The moon is NOT enlarged -vs- the frame it was shot in, but I did zoom out to get more clouds into the shot, then used a tighter shot of the moon so it took more space in the frame. This is with my…

Long Lens Fun!
I was invited to actually surf today. Instead I took the camera along and had some fun but stayed warm and dry! I’m working on a Sony 200-600mm review but figured I’d share 4 images from today. I’ve got a ton more surging images to edit but figured I’d get one done tonight. Enjoy.

100 Consecutive Ski Days!
I skied 100 consecutive days this past winter. Not a 100 day season, (yes I got that too, I’m at 143 days on the season as I write this in May and 31 consecutive months) but 100 consecutive days. I did this by becoming a ski instructor at Bridger this past winter. I worked there…

24GM!
Long time no blog. Yeah, I need to work on that. Yes we’ve moved to Montana. Yes this year/spring/summer/fall has been a blur. I’ll work on better updates… BUT! Sony released a fast 24mm lens! This was my daily lens for the PADs I did back when the kids were born. I’ve switch systems (twice!)…

Eagles!
I love seeing bald eagles. Both of these are nests close to the road where eagles are usually there anytime except winter.
