EAJ Week 115 update
This weekend was a bit of a slow weekend. Nikki didn’t feel well either day, so we didn’t do much. Saturday we went to the Fool’s Rules regatta in Jamestown with Elias and watched them build the boats. It’s always fun to guess what will work and what doesn’t, then watch them break! There were…

Martha’s Vineyard!
Well we finally made it out to Martha’s Vineyard with Debbie and Andy! I’ve only been to Menemsha before so when they asked if we’d like to go out on the fast ferry and join them for the day on Sunday we jumped at the chance. We had a great time. We rode the carousel…

Sachuest 8.7.2010
Went down to Sachuest again this morning. The clouds rolled in just in time for the sunrise and left shortly after. It was pretty much perfect as there was just enough breeze to keep the mosquitos off.

ThinkTankPhoto Retrospective 10 Video Review:
Edit: this post was done before I’d had the bag for long. I’ve since done a video review of this bag that’s more in depth. Check that out here. The video is also the header image you see above, click that and you’ll be able to watch the review here. Thinktank announced the retrospective line…

Canon 10-22mm EF-S to EF conversion:
I converted my 10-22mm to be able to be used on FF over the weekend. I wouldn’t call it a full conversion as it’s NOT and EF lens, and you CAN damage your FF camera (and possibly 1.3) if you’re not careful, so proceed at your own risk… But, taking canon’s rear baffle out and…

Hazard 8.1.2010
Went down to Hazard Ave again this morning. Decent morning but lots of fishermen… Someone decided to scale a fish right in “the spot”, and not only that they smoked about 5 cigarettes while doing it leaving all the butts behind. I guess fishermen don’t respect the sea/environment the way I do but it’d frustrating…

Jed and Stephanie get hitched!
Busy weekend this week. Jed & Stephanie got married Friday night in MA. It was a great ceremony and the reception was a great time. Lots of family to catch up with as well. It was fun seeing everyone all cleaned up. My parents baby sat Elias at our house Friday night so we could…

ALMS 2010
It’s been another fun week in the Jacobsen house. I didn’t realize there wasn’t sailing Monday night so we all went down to my parents house for Dinner. That was great. Elias has been working on his potty training all week with some success, but Nikki really made progress with him Saturday while I was…

ALMS 2010
Just got back from Limerock shooting ALMS. Wow. WOW! Loved it. It’s a bit of a drive (3 hours each way) and a long day on your feet, but it’s soooooo worth it if you’re a car guy. Seeing these things up close is amazing, then seeing them race is just incredible. VERY loud,…

ALMS 2006…
I’m getting reading for ALMS this weekend at limerock. I’ve always been a fan of cars, and when it comes to racing there are 2 series I like, WRC (Rally) and ALMS (LeMans). Well ALMS races an american circuit every year and one stop is in CT (near where I grew up). I made it…

Cokin Z-pro filters.
So part of the switch to canon meant I could downsize my filters to 4″x6″ panels. The sigma 12-24mm and nikon 14-24mm both needed X pros in order to work. The 11-16 I have now and the 10-20 I was considering both work well with Zs which are smaller, cheaper, lighter, but more importantly available…

Zoo Zoo!!!
Zoo Zoo? Yeah, Zoo Zoo! Nikki had to work Saturday so Elias and I were on our own. I like going to the zoo because it’s fun for Elias but it’s also fun to go there and shoot. We’d also gotten out annual membership renewal in the mail this week (not due till August) so…

Narragansett Beach 7.17.2010
Went down and shot the beach this morning. The sunrise wasn’t spectacular but it was still worth shooting. On the way home I also stopped by the nest at the bridge and got a shot of the owners. I was surprised to see three at first, then the 4th showed up!

Back to canon…
Switched back to canon. Nikon’s are great, but the Nikon tax killed me in the end. $2200 for the 24G specifically. Not that some of these lenses are inexpensive, but I bought them all used and save a ton. I’ve got a body I like and lenses I love now and so far so good. …

Summer Vacation 2010
Well, back to work tomorrow. That’ll be a bummer. We had a pretty good summer vacation this year considering we didn’t do much. We went to Andy’s Bday on the 4th at their cottage which was a ton of fun (and food) as usual. Then we went to Block Island with my parents and Nikki’s…
