No the baby’s not here yet, but that’s his estimated weight from the checkup last night. Nikki’s participating in a study on the size of the baby and how that effects a mother’s recovery… This means we got an additional ultrasound and a $10 Barnes & Noble gift card. The ultrasound images I usually share are pretty boring (I’ll still try to get one up though) because he’s squished into a small space and is much larger now. We did get to see that he is a boy for sure, he yawned for us which was adorable, and his stomach and lungs and everything else looks in place. They use 3 measurements to estimate his weight: head circumference, waist circumference, and length of a leg. His first two were normal, his last was a bit longer than normal (meaning he’s on track to be tall). So that will throw the weight off a bit. Plus he’s going to gain 1/2 a pound each week until he’s born… So he’s on track to be a ~9lb baby if he comes on their due date and this estimate is correct, but it’s also +/- 3/4 of a pound and she said it would be higher because of the long legs….
Where does that leave us? Well we’re both very excited about the baby. We’re hoping he comes sooner rather than making us wait. The ultrasound machine also estimates the delivery date based on his size and it said 2/28 this time. It’s always been saying 2/28~3/1 and that’s when Nikki and I have always calculated it to be also… There are at least 2 methods of getting a due date, the doctors are using theirs, we’re using ours, (what do they know anyway?)… I guess in a few weeks we’ll see who’s right. The timer in the top right corner of the blog is to their date in case you’re watching.
